Is there currently a way to federate Teams with another Organization/O365 tenant?  Or does the legacy Skype for Business admin center setting for federation also allow Teams to federate with the same organizations we’ve already federated with?

From the admin portal perspective, we have made this available in the new portal. The fundamental controls in the back-end though are the same in Skype for Business so access should be reciprocal between the legacy Skype Admin portal & the new Microsoft Teams & SFB Admin Portal. That being said, there was an issue we discovered where some tenants had a portion of this capability inadvertently removed - that should be fixed now though.

@Jamie Stark Thank you for the quick reply.  It has been a couple days since I've checked the Teams/SFB Admin Portal, but I do now see domains that we're federated with in the External access section.

Woo! Awesome to hear. Sorry for the hassle.

Having wasted hours on this with some clients, let me share the "reality": a Teams user can ONLY be signed in to ONE tenant at a time. You'd think that this should be irrelevant, since is the federated external tenant is "allowed" and if Teams user A (in tenant 1) has been invited and accepted into a team in tenant 2 (or invited to chat with User B in tenant 2), then they would at the VERY LEAST receive an alert to indicate that some has tagged then, chatted to them, or replied to them. You don't. What you get is this: the external user's status will show "Unavailable" and your presence will show "Unavailable" to them. If the external federated user tried to call, chat or reply to you then ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER you will get a barely noticeable red circle next to your username (top-right) indicating the number of "missed events"; I think is supposed to prompt you to sign OUT of your Teams and sign IN to the federated external team. It's way slower than email, and COMPLETELY POINTLESS - it undermines the entire premise of a "chat based work space". The experience is frankly a disservice to the entire ethos of Teams.
