Hi

 

The team pulled the User request for support of Multiple logins.  Is this completely off the table or will we one day be able to receive and send content to multiple tenants from a single client

You can only do this today through Guest Access. If you're invited as a Guest to another tenant, you can use the tenant switching model to switch tenants in the Teams client.

For all intents and purposes, yes. You can't be logged into two tenants right now - which means you can't use the same Teams client to connect your "home" Team and a guest Team.

 

This is a major feature lacking in comparison to Slack, and is a significant speed bump for contractors, consultants, and other "gig" or multi-client workers. Timeline to address?

Jim,  That's correct which is why the guest access is so important as that 'enables' a trust between 2 tenant ID's.

 

I would just like to understand from  @Ansuman Acharya what "tenant switching model to switch tenants in the Teams client" was as this might provide an answer

We do want to allow people to have "multiple logins" in the same client instance - without the current tenant switching experience. Requires some extra work and also need to coordinate w/federation. Actively working on it.

@Steve Dalby  As a consultant that has to work with two clients that use Teams it's a pain in the tail to logout then login each time I want to switch from one client to the other. Especially on mobile devices when I just want to reply to a Chat or  a Channel message with either client.

 

I just wish there was a way to have login for client A and login for Client B then a simple to to my login and switch between the two, without having to logout, re-login (having to input my 18 character password that's uber complex and I have to lookup each time). 

 

Seriously how difficult is it guys? Your Microsoft and have created this great tool, which consultants have to deal with communications with multiple clients using Teams. I even have 

Other requests: 
Tear-off Chat windows:  it's a pain to have to keep going back-n-forth between Teams channels and chat, especially when ya just want to link a file URL in a chat. 
Tear-off Activity window:  this would make life really easy when dealing with many conversations and chats.

 

Just my thoughts as I'm working in Teams for the past month with a couple clients. 

 

I second the comments by @jeffburkholder. And it's not even necessarily for consultants and the like. My wife is a Finance Manager and the group she works for has separate O365 tenancies for each of the companies that she manages, so this would impact her even -- who is clearly more in the realm of "regular user", albeit a more advanced case.

 

And an interesting obvious that I make is that the OneDrive client already has the capability to access multiple tenants at once, so this seems very much like a case of different teams not having access to similar technology and so forth (or even knowing what each other is doing).

 

Oh, and PLEASE get some form of "Message Read"/"Message Seen" mechanism working in teams. It's in Skype, and it's extremely useful to know if someone has seen your message.
