Groups used for channel users

Am I correct that I can't add and remove guest or member from channels via a group just like everything else.  I have several channels that I will have to manually update every time I lose a member or guest vice just removing them from a group.  Am I missing something?

This only addresses adding individuals not groups.  I have read those articles a thousand times.  I am looking for group membership. Something like Windows explorer.
