IOS can't play Stream video

Copper Contributor

We put a video on Sharepoint which can be publicly viewed. When we clicked the video link, iPhone can't play our video (either using Chrome or safari had the same problem). After showing the "This browser can't play the video" page, it auto-diverted to the Microsoft sign-in page.

But the video works fine on the computer with Chrome. Can anyone help?

Is the video an MP4 or is it a Windows-only format like a WMF? That's my first thought seeing this - that it is related to your operating system media capabilities and not the browser.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Check the video format: Ensure the video format is compatible with iOS devices, such as H.264 or MPEG-4.

  2. Re-encode the video: Try re-encoding the video into a format that is supported by iOS devices.

  3. Use a third-party media player: Try using a third-party media player, such as VLC for iOS, that can handle a wider range of video formats.

  4. Use a compatible streaming service: Consider using a compatible video streaming service, such as YouTube or Vimeo, that can automatically encode your video into a format that is compatible with iOS devices.
