Restricting the Group members permission in Stream

Hi there,

We would like the Group members to be able to upload their videos to the Group that they belong to in Stream, but we also would like to restrict their access to remove or delete the other Group members’ videos from the Group.

At present, it seems that the permission level in Stream is only turning ON or OFF ‘Allow all members to contribute’. If this is turned ON, the Group members can upload their videos to the Group area as well as they can edit, remove their own AND the other Group members’ videos from the Group. If this is turned OFF, they cannot even upload their videos to the Group.

It would be great if Microsoft could review the permission level in Stream and provide options to restrict the members from editing or removing the other Group members’ videos in the Group.

Kind regards,

Emi

I like this idea and would recommend the same hold true for companywide  channels. We want to enable video upload to all but owners of some channels are fearful of what might happen if they open it up to anyone.

I agree that access needs to be more robust.  We wanted to allow people to upload videos but not delete, and we wanted to have several people to manage the channels, e.g. moving or removing videos as needed.

Hi @Emi Hill  Thanks for your input! The issue you describe with the Contributor setting can be frustrating. Unfortunately, we won't be making any changes to this in Stream (Classic). Fortunately, in New Stream, we'll start by using the standard OneDrive / SharePoint permissioning model, which should simplify things. This will also allow the use of Power Automate workflows to move and/or approve files coming in through a watch folder.
