Arrange Videos in a Playlist

I'm uploading a set of training videos and I'd like them to be presented in order. I'm putting them in a specific channel but the sort options on the channel don't seem to have a way to do that.

Either a Playlist or the ability to sort by name in a channel would be helpful

We definitely needs this feature.  Please add soon!

Yes please, if there is a series of short videos it's really embarrassing to have to tell the audience they need to look for the sequence number in the title and view them in ascending order...

Microsoft - if anyone is reading, it is apparent that we need to be able to sort our videos!  We are going to have to look at other options if we can't get this.  We store our monthly newsletters in a channel, and it's embarrassing when the one at the top of the list is 9 months old and you can't find the latest one!  Please and thank you!

Absolutely, this is a must have!

This is really an essential feature! When it will be added to Stream?

Any update from anyone at Microsoft? Is it even on the horizon?

Do you really expect Microsoft to respond?

If you do, you haven't been working with Microsoft very long...

Contributor

Yes we should be able to at least sort in alphabetical order.

Need this!!! Please give sort option in Stream and in Stream webpart for Modern Sites.

Agree with Raymond Boone. Please, just do it! We at least need the ability to manually sort these videos.

Just came across this seemingly obvious omission from functionality as well. Speechless. No ability to either sort based on the Video title or manually reorder the content in a stream is crazy. Please implement this basic functionality as soon as possible!

The ability to autoplay a series of videos one after another automatically is a requested feature. I'd be nice to pull up all videos that have a hashtag or common identifier and then play that series of unviewed videos one after another automatically.

We have a few clients now whom we suggested to use Stream instead of You Tube since it's suppose to be safer with respect to how data is stored within the tenant's domain. However, the lack of this particular feature is a big setback when comparing the two considering it's a standard feature one would expect.

We need to have the ability to create a playlist, pick and order videos from a particular channel. Then would like to be able to get the playlist ID and use in a standard video embed (same as YouTube effectively) to run as a playlist and with options like repeat, auto play etc..

Any chance of an update? Is it really under review or is it just that you posted that after I pointed out on the AMA that no one from your team seemed to know about this request and had never posted a response to this extremely popular idea? (Check out the date time of the "under review" post with the AMA event .... coincidence, me thinks not) Stream is starting to fail big time for my company because without any sort of publishable play list, content is simply to hard to find, or sequence in any meaningful manner, You are losing ground now in my company to "Facebook at Work", whihc is a tragedy! Please give us some light at the end of the tunnel!

To help organize larger channels within our O365 it would be helpful if the creator of a channel could further organize videos into playlists for future viewers - playlists could be related content to make navigating the videos more logical for student access. This would be MUCH better then creating a new channel for each group of videos.

@AllenCould you let us know what the sequence of Statuses for ideas is, as changing the status of an idea that is over 14 months old from "under review" to "new idea" seems counter intuitive?

Hi,

Sorry I was fixing a problem with ideas boards yesterday and it seems to have changed some of the idea's statuses. I have returned this idea back to its previous state.

Apologies

Thank you :)

@Amit Rajput- any updates on this? I just had a meeting with senior management and was having hard time explaining why such a great product cannot sort videos by name so users can watch it in a specific order...

Senior Member

I love Stream but I hate not being able to present videos in an order that I want to specify. Sorting by filename would be enough (and the ability to set the default sort for a channel).

I have a bunch of different user groups laughing at me because I can't put their educational videos in order. It really is laughable.

tenor.gifSo close! Static list is essential for sequential playback or ordered media.

@Allen thanks for the update.

@Marc Mroz ??? What does it mean? No longer Under Review? Is it going to be implemented or not? Can somebody provide us a definitive answer? I need a solution and if Stream cannot provide it I have to look elsewhere.

Contributor

@Marc MrozThis change of status to "new" happened on 22nd August as well and was correct by @Allen - Please tell me this is indeed a mistake again

Any update on the creating playlist (with video ordering)?

We haven't seen much updates on the platform lately.

18 months later and this is still overdue...
