MS Stream Auto-generated Transcript giving "Something went wrong and we’re not sure why" error

Copper Contributor

We're are trying to release an inclusive video to our network. The transcript auto-generator and upload .vtt section don't seem to be functioning properly.

When uploading our transcript in .vtt format a green check will appear approving the file. But, when viewing the video no closed captions appear.

Alternatively, when we attempted to auto-generate closed captions we were met with "The transcript is taking longer than expected. Refresh or check back later." message. Then "Something went wrong and we’re not sure why.".

We're looking for alternative ways to include captions in the video as the video cannot be released without them.

I’m sorry you are running into a problem. If this is on Stream (Classic) can you try uploading the video to a SharePoint site, yammer community or teams team and see if our new code for transcripts and VTT files is better?

Or put in a support ticket.

Sorry!
Your IT team would need to do it for you. I believe only M365 admins can file support tickets. Contact your help desk if you have one?
