Teams default Video Settings (already switched to Steam (on SharePoint) in SharePoint

Copper Contributor

hello, we are wanting to update our Teams default settings but cannot find where to do this. We have already switched our SharePoint Tenant settings to Stream (on SharePoint) but the default behavior to record a meeting video is Steam (classic). We must change this but where?  If it is simply a meeting not tied to SP site/365 Group can we disable meeting recordings? Where will these files be saved?

Solution
Meeting recordings are not saved to Stream Classic for anyone and haven't been for over 2 years now. If you are not conducting a channel meeting (which saves to the library in Teams) then the video is being saved to OneDrive - not to Stream Classic. You cannot change this behavior. Disabling meeting recordings that are not in a M365 group site is tricky because you can disable ALL video recording for the tenant. You can create a policy to allow only certain people or groups to record. Regardless, individuals are allowed to record meetings and any meeting they create outside of the channel meetings will be saved to their OneDrive account. If there are a specific group of people you want to allow to record you can create a policy that says they can record meetings and you can turn off meeting recordings for everyone else in the Teams admin center. Will this solve your problem?
