Yesterday I had the awesome opportunity to speak at the Virtual Technology Users Group (VTUG) Winter Warmer meeting at Gillette Stadium.
VTUG is a particularly interesting group because its leaders formed this community out of the preexisting VMware Users Group (VMUG) after they saw the momentum and performance of Hyper-V.
The VTUG community has grown rapidly, and this year’s event had over 1,300 attendees. Events like this are an exciting place to see all of the cloud technologies put side by side and compared objectively. It’s awesome to see how Microsoft’s Cloud OS leads the way.
This community has been a massive presence in the cloud technology community for years, and getting to meet with the attendees was a lot of fun. You can check out a quick recap video of my trip below.
One of the reasons this event, and communities like VTUG, are so important is the high level thinking and innovation that is being applied to the cloud from all corners of the industry. There’s also a huge personal benefit for me: I love the opportunity to get out into the field at events like this and take the time to talk in depth and 1:1 with the IT Pros carrying out the millions of daily operations that rely upon the cloud-based technology my team works on every day.
My keynote centered on the technological advantages available today with the Microsoft approach to the Hybrid Cloud, and the way enterprises and service providers from all over the world are making the most of Hybrid resources. I’ll post the entire presentation in a couple days once it’s posted online.
The IT solutions built by Microsoft – something referred to as the Cloud OS – is a really powerful way for IT Pros to make the most of their infrastructure and their resources at any scale.
I really encourage everyone in the VMUG community to check out VTUG and see how you can branch out your current base of skills and see what other technology is developing in the cloud industry.
