The Azure Purview data catalog has released a new set of features that make it easier find important and interesting data to accomplish your data-driven tasks.

Object Type Filter

The object type filter is a new facet that allows users to look at similar data types across different source types. For example, say you are looking for a finance table, but you aren't sure if that data lives in Azure SQL Database or an Azure Synapse Dedicated SQL Table. The object type filter let's you filter for "Tables" and shows all results across different sources that have a tabular structure. Another example is "Data pipelines" includes results from different data integration tools such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and SSIS.

Note: The content type filter no longer is replaced with the object type functionality. Resource sets are returned as part of the "Files" filter.

PowerBI Certification labels in Search

Organizations often have large amounts of Power BI content available for sharing and reuse by their Power BI users, and identifying trustworthy, authoritative content can be difficult. Endorsement is a way to make it easier for users to find the high-quality content they need. Now when searching the Azure Purview data catalog, users can see PowerBI endorsement labels directly from the search results making it easier to identify assets that should be used for consumption.

Note: Only PowerBI assets ingested after August 5th, 2021 will display endorsement information. For older assets, please trigger a full scan to see these labels.
