One of the questions I get asked the most is about the process our engineering team uses to prioritize new features and functionality for OneDrive. There are many ways we do this today including quality feedback from the product (just shake to send on mobile), user telemetry, App Store reviews from our top-rated iOS and Android mobile apps and my favorite, our UserVoice feedback page.

In the past few years, UserVoice has been a key factor for prioritizing some new features and functionality we have brought to the product, including Files On-Demand, ransomware detection, file versioning, and Android SD storage card support.

The goal of UserVoice has always been to provide a platform for you to share, vote and discuss ideas on how we can work to improve OneDrive. It’s a critical part of our engineering process enabling our engineering team to sit down each month and review the features with over 500 votes and respond back to all of you.

Over the past few months, we have realized that our UserVoice needed a restructure to make it easier to find what you are looking for and reduce duplication to ensure your votes count. The answer is a redesigned UserVoice from the ground up, starting with the look and feel of the page, as well as a better alignment of categories to both current and future functionality. We feel this will better help you find where to search for requested features or to add your new requests.

Let’s break down our new categories you’ll find at https://onedrive.uservoice.com

OneDrive Sharing and Collaboration- Feedback and ideas to improve our sharing and collaboration experiences

We’ve heard lots of great feedback on sharing and collaboration in OneDrive and we wanted to make sure there was a central place to see these topics, regardless of what endpoint you might be collaborating on.

Security and compliance are a key part of the OneDrive promise and we want to make sure that we can hear your suggestions and ideas for improvements directly.

UserVoice is still a bit of messy in all the iterations i have seen on the web. Anyway, voted on some more issues and created a new idea ;)

Is it a searcbox anywhere?

Tonje, when you click on one of the categories, you can start typing an idea and it shows you similar posted ideas.

Is the new uservoice forum meant to cover OneDrive for Business as well as consumer OneDrive?  I don't see specific mention, even though they are advertised as distinct products.

Copper Contributor

I visited that forum it looks awesome to read all the ideas that people needed. Thanks for making that for people.

Es necesario que OneDrive en la sección de fotos agregue la detección automática de rostros , así de esta manera se pueda agrupar personas y la búsqueda sea mas fácil.

es una herramienta que ya muchos proveedores ofrecen

I had subscribed for Microsoft 365 Business basic primarily with an intent to use the  One Drive as an alternate to sync my data on cloud (presently I am using Google drive). However, unlike Google drive, One drive has the limitation on choice of folders for sync. It does not permit you to chose a folder outside C drive. For small offices like mine, most of the data is stored outside C drive and hence the restriction is an impediment. Due to this restrictive use policy, I have discontinued my subscription.   Microsoft should consider allowing users to add folders from any drive.

Thanks to those who've shared the link to the new OneDrive feedback portal.

Though it does seem like contributing on there might be a bit of a fool's errand - I note that there are 5000+ total user contributions, of which only 15 have received any kind of official response from Microsoft; and, of those, only one or two actually say anything other than "thanks for your feedback"...

Asking for user feedback / feature suggestions is a great idea and all, but only works if MS actually engage with people's suggestions, i.e. put their money where there mouth is.

Agree - the time invested entering suggestions into uservoice also resulted in nothing happening, and I see from a quick search of the replacement feedbackportal that they were not migrated from the old system to the new. Probably if you're not a big $$$ corporate customer the feedback goes straight in the shredder regardless of how valuable the suggestions could be to improving OneDrive.
