Through our close collaborations with customers and partners over the last few years, we know organizations are struggling to spread valuable IT resources across the increasing demands of protecting data, managing user devices, and innovating solutions to core business challenges.

We’ve seen customers embrace our vision of a modern workplace – along with Microsoft Managed Desktop as a solution to accelerate digital transformation.

Now, we’re excited to share new market findings from Forrester that affirm our observations.

In a global survey of hundreds of IT decision-makers from organizations supporting 500 or more devices, Forrester found that 93% plan to implement managed desktop services in the next year to help “fill key gaps in employee experience and security needs.”

Published in June, Managed Desktop Services Address Critical IT Challenges is a Forrester report that offers several key findings, summarized here:

  • Companies seek digital transformation to solve high-priority issues with security, manageability, user experience, and IT operations. According to Forrester, “Enhancing their desktop experiences with innovative apps and cloud manageability is key to improving employee experience, enabling greater innovation, and enhancing security.
  • Desktop management is manually intensive and prevents IT from focusing on core business initiatives like digital transformation. Forrester found that “52% of decision makers say their current IT infrastructure keeps them from delivering the best possible end user experience, and 47% say that their IT processes keep them from embracing innovation.”
  • Managed desktop services accelerate digital transformation.  Among respondents who have already implemented managed desktop services, 54 percent noted an increase in IT bandwidth for other tasks.

These findings underscore what we’ve been hearing from our customers : that digital transformation empowers companies to shift IT focus from time-consuming, non-core tasks to IT innovations that produce a competitive edge.

In fact, that’s the guiding vision behind Microsoft Managed Desktop – and that’s why we set about designing a service solution that accelerates digital transformation for our customers and partners.
