We’re happy to announce that the new Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Support Engineer Specialty certification for the support engineer job role is now in general availability. To earn this certification, you must pass Exam MS-740: Troubleshooting Microsoft Teams. To prepare for the exam, use the associated Microsoft Teams self-paced learning path on Microsoft Learn.

During the beta exam process, we heard feedback from our customers about the in-depth technical expertise necessary to work with Microsoft platforms. As a result, this certification is now designated at the Specialty level to better reflect the complexity of the support engineer role.

This certification provides support engineers who use advanced troubleshooting methods in Microsoft Teams environments with a way to validate their technical skills and advance their careers. It also offers Microsoft partners—particularly cloud solution providers (CSPs)—with a key differentiator in these times of accelerating digital transformation. This globally recognized, industry-endorsed Microsoft certification can distinguish support engineers from their peers and can help CSPs gain a competitive advantage.

Is this certification for your team members?

Are you a partner with frontline technical staff that troubleshoots issues for Microsoft customers? This certification could be a great fit for your support engineers who use advanced troubleshooting methods to support Microsoft Teams environments.

For more details on what’s covered in the certification exam, read the skills outline for Exam MS-740.

Celebrate with the world: Post badges on LinkedIn

You can be among the first CSP partners to have your support engineers earn this certification, post their badges on LinkedIn, and celebrate their accomplishment with their team and their network. It often takes less than a minute for a learner to update their LinkedIn profile and share how their team and your organization are working together to deliver superior service to your customers.

It’s easy to renew a Microsoft Certification

Whether you’re earning your first Microsoft Certification or already hold several, it’s easy to keep your credentials current. Learners can take an online renewal assessment—at no cost—any time within six months before their certification expires. You don’t need to retake scheduled exam(s), and you have the flexibility to complete the certification renewal process on your own schedule. Get the details in our blog post Is your certification expiring soon? Renew it for free today!

Hi Gita,

The system to renew certificates is broken. I did the renewal assessment and passed before the deadline but the certification has expired. There are a ton of people with the same issue on the support forum. Can't get a reply from the moderators as I assume they are overloaded. There is no proper ticketing system to get support. Can this be looked at please before rolling out new stuff as if we can't renew the current certifications in the way we were promised, it would be pointless for most people to try to get any new ones.

Please look in to the backend chaos and the broken support system so we can follow these certifications with some confidence.

Thank you
