Recovery Partition Question

Iron Contributor

Hi All

A quick question and sorry if it has been asked before.

Anyway, say a Windows 10 PC (HP) has a recovery partition and policies are deployed to encrypt the device and compliance policies require BitLocker.

With that, the C: Drive gets encrypted but the D: Drive recovery partition does not, would the device fail compliance checks?

Info appreciated

Hi Stuart,

normally recovery partitions do have a special flag to mark them as recovery partition. This way they are handled differently by the OS to not assign a letter and so on. In your case the BitLocker compliance setting would assume one OS partition which is encrypted by BitLocker and would not fall into non-compliant.

best,
