Passwordless

Copper Contributor

I believe that I have all of the components needed to be passwordless in a Hybrid Joined AD/Entra ID environment. I can perform all of the passwordless login methods. I cannot get the password option to go away using "Enable Passwordless Experience". I have made sure that no group policies are conflicting. I have verified, as per Intune, the settings catalog policy has been applied. I have tried it on two different laptops using 23H2 and 24H2 windows 11.

When you say 'get the password option to go away'—do you mean the option to sign in with a password on Windows sign-in?

From what I remember, it's not possible to remove the password option completely.

@NicklasOlsen The way I understand passwordless as enabled in Intune...the password login option.is removed from the login screen, but you can still opt for 'Other User' and use a password login there. I can't get the password option removed at login screen.

Can I see how you have configured your policies so far?

When you exclude the password as a credential provider, you have to be aware of some limitations, such as that using a LAPS user password isn't possible, etc.

I would recommend that you configure the default credential provider to PIN, or that credential provider you would like on a test device 🙂

Let me know if that solves the issue.
