I have 3500 Samsung Android phones running Android 8 and 9, managed by Intune. We'd rolled out the Microsoft apps such as Outlook, Sharepoint etc. into the managed workspace. Secure Google Playstore has the default setting of update apps when on wi-fi.
I've been asked why staff have different versions of the Outlook app on their Phones, we assumed Google Playstore would update reasonably frequently without the user being aware.
Is there any setting to control the frequency of checking for updates and/or use Intune and Company Portal to trigger an update of the managed apps?

Hello @Calum_L1,
When you say managed workspace, I would assume Work Profile, is that correct?
In any case, there are several factors that Google require for OS and Managed Google Play App updates, the majority of which are unfortunately not something Intune can manage.
Here are the main criteria:
• Battery level
• CPU load
• Network connection type and strength
• Whether the device is idle or in use
• Whether or not the app to be updated is actively being used in the foreground
• Ensure that devices are plugged in
• Ensure that there are no pending permission updates
If in the Device Owner scenario, you could leverage our policies to set app auto-updates to Wi-Fi only or Always and by setting the System Update setting to a specific maintenance window as that mechanism is used for both OS and app updates.
I hope this helps!
