Please introduce yourself!
I am Stefan Malter from Germany. Media and Technology are the most important topics in my life right now! Originally, I am a journalist and media trainer. Ten years ago, I became a university lecturer at the Institute of Journalism, mainly teaching interview techniques and developing new media productions. Technology has had a lot of influence on reporting and teaching in the last couple of years. That’s why I also try to help others achieve more with products like OneNote, Office 365 and Surface. „OneNote for Beginners“ and „OneNote for Teachers“ (in German) are my most successful blog projects so far – and also best-selling books on Amazon.
Where can we find you on social?
You won’t miss any news about my blog projects and spontaneous thoughts about media issues, you can follow me on Twitter: @StefanMalter. You don’t have to hire a private investigator to find me on other networks like Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn … ;)
If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting their career in tech, what would you tell them?
Technology is your friend! It can make your life easier, and there’s always a way to find an even better solution next time.
How do you stay up to date with changing technologies and updates?
Social Media is a great source for tech news. I follow my favourite blogs and well-known enthusiasts on Twitter. Talking to experts whenever you can also gives you great insights …
How has technology changed since you first started your career?
I love the fact that technology can be used easily by everyone now. You don’t have to be an IT pro to use a computer, have your household connected and communicate digitally with friends. Everyone can do it!
What advice would you give to a first-time Microsoft Ignite attendee?
Microsoft Ignite seems to be a crowded event with many opportunities. I tend to be overwhelmed, so you should probably try to focus on your favourite topics and make clear decisions.
What are you packing for Microsoft Ignite?
If I may entertain you in front of the camera during Ignite, I should probably pack my favourite shirts. But don’t expect me to shave for you every day … ;)
Why should people follow you for Microsoft Ignite coverage?
I want viewers to understand the thoughts and ideas behind new technology. I want to find out what the real value of new ideas is like. I want to get to know the people behind these new ideas. And I want everyone to get a feeling of what being at Microsoft Ignite feels like – so that every viewer at home can also be a part of this great event!
