Please introduce yourself! I am a Pacific Northwest Native living in Washington DC and loving it! I have been in technology my entire career and have held positions from Helpdesk Technician, to VP of Sales to founder and cloud fanatic. I think this is a very exciting time to be in tech as each day is another day to learn and grow. The challenges are infinite!
Where can we find you on social? I am a Twitter head -- @amyrutt
If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting their career in tech, what would you tell them? This is a very rewarding career and you should plan to be learning all of the time and change is a constant – but oh so, rewarding!
How do you stay up to date with changing technologies and updates? I follow the experts on Twitter, read industry blogs and work hard to apply what I am learning to transforming my customers workloads. This keeps me in a forward motion.
How has technology changed since you first started your career? It is easier to get into because it's now more complex than ever. So the industry has diversified to capture talent -- you need smart, tenacious team members and these folks are found in all areas of industry. In a word – you have a lot more freedom to grow your skills and therefore your career options.
What advice would you give to a first-time Microsoft Ignite attendee? Wear your most comfortable shoes and pack light. It’s a great time.
What are you packing for Microsoft Ignite? My Hoka running shoes and a bag with plenty of room for all the wonderful swag :smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes: to share.
Why should people follow you for Microsoft Ignite coverage? I am a very curious person and will be asking questions that I believe will apply to a wide range of folks.
