Forms terminates early, before the end of my survey

The form works perfectly for the first 35 questions but terminates early (skips right to the end of the survey with the 'submit' button) on question 36. There are 54 questions in total in my form, so it misses out on the last 18.

I've checked the form branching and it indicates 'Next' (i.e. next question), but clicking 'Next' in practice brings me to the end of the form. I've also tried inserting sections and forcing it to go to the next section after Q36, to no avail, it still goes straight to the end of the form on clicking 'Next'.

Is this a known bug and do you have a solution to this? Thank you.

Was there ever a resolution to this? It just now happened to me and I've been using Forms for years!

Could you please obtain a repro form and send me a private message with a collaboration link of it? That way, I can debug the problematic form to understand the root cause.
