Forms Maths correct answer recognition

I have a question that ideally requires an answer in dollars, but have allowed for whole or decimal number answers as well. 

When students submitted answers, no matches were found.

Is there a guide somewhere on how forms matches correct answers? I also found (by chance) that the only way to get a '$' symbol was to type it in twice. The answer matching also seems to be complicated by students inserting spaces - anyway to get around that?

@David_Bodey there is no regex validation in Forms so you can't prevent the users entering spaces. The best way to achieve what you want is to have a text question and apply the restriction of numbers only so that they enter 200.
