We are thrilled to announce that our new feature, email confirmation receipt has been available for all commercial customers.

Form designers can allow respondents to receive an email receipt of their responses to the online survey by checking “Send email receipt to respondents” under ...”- Settings - Notification.

Form respondents will then see the option, “Send me an email receipt of my responses,” just above the submit button. If selected, respondents will receive an email with their responses for confirmation after submission.

Respondents will receive a confirmation email, which includes a thank you message and link to view their responses.

Any limits to the email receipt feature?

Email receipt is only available when your respondents belong to your organization and you've checked "Record Name" in Settings.

What will happen if I delete the form or responses to the form?

Respondents will no longer be able to access their responses via the link they receive in the confirmation email.

Where can I provide feedback for this feature?

We’d love to hear from you! Let us know what you think via this survey.

Awesome feature we were really waiting for especially when registering for an event a confirmation e-mail is very useful. Thanks!

It is mind-boggling that the Forms team continues to release new features and still have not addressed the lack of any support for logging out once a form has been completed. They have known of this issue for over two years, with no action or viable workaround. This remains a huge issue, and completely incomprehensible as to why it has not been addressed. It is simply not viable to use the Forms product in any shared-device environment including many schools, and this is a huge privacy defect in the product. Clearly this is a product in active development. Microsoft leadership should feel ashamed at the poor management of this product and the continuing pains this glaring defect imposes on customers.

Hello,

Is this feature working ok for users? I don't get any emails with my responses once I submit them.

Have checked the "Record Name" in Settings.

Thanks.

Silver Contributor

@jmramos, I just tested this feature on a sample form I use for teaching and it worked.  I got the email confirmation and could click to see the results.

Copper Contributor

@Jeffrey Allen Thanks for confirming. I don't know why I'm not getting them, still same issue. Anyway as a workaround I created a workflow in MS Flow that sends the responses once received back to the responder's email which works ok. Hope I can find a solution soon.

Thanks!

Mine is still not showing up. image.png

Is there any way to enforce that the checkbox for the receipt is enabled by default?

Steel Contributor

Not getting responses on my forms. All settings are correct on the form. Is there some Admin setting that needs to be enabled?

Copper Contributor

Are there any plans to update the notification feature to notify a Team Channel when the a new response is submitted? Now, we get a daily summary.... even when there are no responses. It is irritating to be distracted when there is nothing to actually see, but we need to know when someone responds. And a notification is so much better than more emails crowding my inbox, especially when a group of people need to see the response.

Microsoft

@Christine Green and @jmramos Have you checked the mail box of Junk email? Or could you preview your forms to check if the check box in response page show up?Picture2.png

By the way, could provide the formid?

Microsoft

@Christine Green  Hi Christine, thanks for your feedback, currently due to the limit of security and compliance, we only support sending email receipt when both designer and respondents consent to the option.

Microsoft

@robertcheney  Hi robertcheney, May I ask whether if you are a government user? If so, the notification section is not enabled on that for the email service is not ready. Thanks!

Copper Contributor

@Yong Qiu hah yes, I am. I ended upsing microsoft flow to build a workaround. but it would be great to have that functionality built in.

Copper Contributor

Please can you add the ability for a user to print their responses?

As a form owner, I can print a user's responses, via the ... button. But a user who filled in a form and views their responses can't see that button. When a user tries to Ctrl-P print their form response, they get only a single-page garbled version.

Copper Contributor

Hello,

Is there an ETA of when this will be available for Government tenants?

Copper Contributor

We are a volunteer organization, and just a few of us have email "inside the organization". So even if email reciept / confirm of action is very fine, we cant use it.  Could you make it work for any email adress?

Copper Contributor

Hi,

Is it possible to change the notification that users recieve for filling out the form?

Cause it seems the notification is just not customizable.

Copper Contributor

I've had a request from my marketing team to change "Send me an email receipt of my responses" to "Send me an email receipt of my REQUEST". Since I can't do that they would like to hide this all together. I don't believe this is possible at the moment. Would you please add this ability?

Copper Contributor

Hi,

I am not getting the receipt of my response. @Yong Qiu

Brass Contributor

The "Send email receipt to respondents" is greyed out.  How can we change this to show up?

Silver Contributor

@Deb Codding, are you trying to send the form anonymously or are you having them sign in with their organization account?  It only works if they sign in.  If it is anonymous, it will not work as it doesn't know what email address to send to.

Copper Contributor

Hi
Is there any way to have the automation of sending the email receipt to respondents after respondents submitted.

For anyone with the link can respond.

Copper Contributor

If I click "Get email notification of each response" Who gets the notification? On what emailadress?Screenshot 2019-11-06 at 11.29.43.png

Copper Contributor

Hi all

Will email receipt for the respondents out of the organization  will be enhanced later in Microsoft form or Microsoft form Pro?

thanks Mandy

Copper Contributor
@CJZheng and @YongQui, could you please address the lack of functionality regarding sending confirmation emails to non-organization members? We had this functionality and used it on most Google Forms. Trying to get buy-in to MS Forms from die-hard Googlers, and your product not having this (seemingly) essential ability is turning management off of the whole idea of switching. A few other people have asked about this on here, and haven't received responses. Is this option coming? If yes, do you have an estimated timeline? Thank you for your response.
Copper Contributor

We are also moving from Google Forms to MS forms, and also missing the confirmation e-mails to non-organization members .

Iron Contributor

@mbook this No email notifications for responses to Group Forms Office Exprerts support article may be of interest.

Copper Contributor

Just to add to the requests made by some of the others on this forum. I need most of the forms I generate to be completed by people who are not formally within the organisation but for whom I have responsibility. The key feature I need is the ability for respondents to receive a copy of their submission which is date and timestamped. Unfortunately a lot of what I need to be able to do hinges on this particular feature.

Is there any info on if this feature is coming?

Copper Contributor

Is there any way to change the language of the automated emails sended to respondents?

Copper Contributor

during the covid-19 pandemic we are collecting data on people who enter our facility who are not of the organisation so the form is set to anonymous - it would be great for them to have a copy of the information they have given out. Even better if this could be a nice pdf which includes the section headers and subtitles ie some of the information is included in this section about who they can contact if they have an issue (ie maybe 2 weeks later they test positive!).

@Yong Qiu Is there a way to do the above? At the moment I'm looking at using flow but I'm not a coder, and i really don't know what I'm doing with that software - so it would be great if it was just SIMPLE.

thanks

Copper Contributor

How can you change the setting so the responses are delivered in the email confirmation of submission?  In other words, not a link back to the form, but all responses listed in the email receipt?

Copper Contributor

Why is it only possible that the respondent has the ability to receive an overview of their supplied answers via e-mail and not the recipient (form owner)?

Silver Contributor

@CXu2020, maybe I'm missing what you are asking about but owners of the form get the full answers to each respondent of a form in the Excel file.

Copper Contributor

Is there a particular version that allows the email notification for FORMS. Mine does not appear and I would need that update to send my recipients a receipt and copy of there answers.

Copper Contributor

It feels like this is meant to just submit once.  We are using this form for a workflow, so our users will need to fill out the form for each request, so multiple times. There is no way for them to differentiate their requests when they receive their copy of their response (link).  They either need to see the responses, or update the subject line somehow so they can tell them apart.

Copper Contributor

Hi. At the moment we can use the feature in our EDU tenancy. Can you confirm that it won't  be withdrawn, please?

Iron Contributor

@Dmytro_Vasyutin , I don't know if you ever got a response. I don't see an EDU filter on Cloud Instance on the Forms Roadmap  but unfortunately I do know this feature was cancelled/postponed for GCC/GCC High/DoD:

GCC has seemed to share a similar feature set to EDU in many M365 products, but I can't say definitively that your tenant is in the same boat.

Copper Contributor

Hello,

Once a user has submitted the responses to a Form and received the e-mail containing the link to "View my responses", we'd like that user to be able to share the responses with anyone within our organisation by forwarding the e.mail received from Microsoft Forms containing the link to the responses.

We've tried forwarding the e-mail with the link, but it seems that the person who receives the forwarded link cannot see all the responses that have been entered in the individual Form.

Is this a functionality that is available?

Thanks for your help!

Copper Contributor

Hello - I use MS forms after my educational activities for participants to 'claim credit' and complete an evaluation.  I'm wondering if there is a way to include an attachment in the customized thank you message.  I'd like to have a certificate of attendance available after completing the form and would like the process to be automatic instead of manual.

Silver Contributor

@stephaniemunoz you would need to build a flow in Power Automate, it can't be done with just Forms on its own. Earlier today I answered a post about creating and send a building pass with the pass being created first in HTML, converted to PDF then sent as an attachment. It's not necessarily easy but have a look at my post here.

Absolutely stunned that this basic feature is not available for any respondents if they opt-in (not just within organization).

I only use Google Forms, but my kids' school use Microsoft and they ask us to fill forms months in advance. When the time comes to remember our answers, nobody knows and they waste a lot of time with the confusion it creates.

Also please add an "email" type field to form, again very basic feature.

Copper Contributor

Hi Team, it is 2023 and I don't see the check box for this. Has the feature been removed?

Ivan_Castillo_0-1681404614250.png

Copper Contributor

@Ivan_Castillo I believe since this blog post from 4 years ago, the option was renamed "Allow receipt of responses after submission", which is the second from last option in your screenshot. Keep in mind that this feature will only work if you select "Only people in my organization can respond" or "Specific people in my organization can respond", as otherwise the user's email address isn't captured in the response.

Copper Contributor

It seems like such a basic feature for any respondent to opt-in (not just within organization) to receive an email summary. It's possible in Google Forms! Please consider adding this feature.
