Teams only occationaly sending MFA notifications to Authenticator

Copper Contributor

When logging into Teams in the browser, the MFA doesn't send a notification to the app. When trying the same in the Windows app, the notification with the 3 numbers you choose from shows up in the authenticator app and when selecting the right one, windows teams app continues the logging in process only to go to another screen where it displays another number to select in the app, but this time the app doesn't show any notification.

The authenticator app seems to work generally, but somehow the notifications doesn't get sent.

@AntsSymphonie When Entra believes a sign-in is suspicious, it will not display the notification in the Authenticator app. This is to prevent users from being bothered by superfluous notifications, and may prevent some phishing scenarios. This feature is described in more detail here: Emphasizing security by default with advanced Microsoft Authenticator features - Microsoft Community...

@RyanSteele-CoVThe notifications are not suppressed. There are no notifications, not even with an open an unlocked app.

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood. Is this issue affecting one user or many? How long has it been going on for?

When you refer to "the notification with the three numbers you choose from", this sounds like the authentication flow for a personal Microsoft account rather than a work or school account. If the user has both a personal and a work or school account with the same email address, they ought to change the email address on the personal account to avoid issues.
