For existing machines registered in Autopilot, do you need to re-register when the OS is reinstalled

From testing, it seems that if we register an existing device into Autopilot, and then completely reinstall the OS from disk, the device still "seems" to stay registered, but there have been times that it didn't work. That may have been due to other issues, but leads to this question:

Once an existing device is registered, and the OS is completely reinstalled, do you need to re-register it with Autopilot?

Solution

@Lynn Towle - If the device is already registered into Autopilot, the device can be reset or reimaged, and the device remains registered.  We've seen issues typically tied to Hybrid AADJ, where failures are due to improper targeting of the "Domain Join" profile.

@Hung_Dang Can you explain what "improper targeting" of domain join profile really means? Thx!

@Hung_Dang Thanks! I assumed as much, but checking with experts always helps :)
