What is the difference between Windows Defender and Windows Defender for Business

Copper Contributor

I have purchased Windows Defender for Business but I don't see an option for it in MS365 Security Center.  I also see Windows Defender for Office 365.  I am confused.

@joliet_tech hello there in general Windows Defender is the free AV that comes with any win10-11 device .

Defender for Endpoint is the paid version which includes ADR .

Defender for Business is the version of Defender for Endpoint which is included in the non E3-E5 licenses like Microsoft 365 Business Premium licenses which have a limit of 300 users/devices.

Windows Defender for Office 365 is the Defender version which protects from spam / phising / malware etc . especially for Exchange online , teams , sharepoint not for endpoints.
