Sensor Version History

Brass Contributor

Hello,

Is there a link to a webpage that shows the sensor version history and changes made?

Thanks In Anticipation

There isn't one specifically for the sensor, but you can check the MDI release notes here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/defender-for-identity/whats-new
Ok that helps, thanks.
On another relevant issue, if i may, how come delaying sensor updates doesn't stop the sensor from updating? How can you test the impact of a sensor update if you aren't aware that it has still happened?
The delay feature only delays the update for 72 hours.
If MDI support is alerted during those 72 hours on serious issues (extremally rare), we have the ability to stop the updates from the backend if the issue justifies this.
So the only way that you're aware of an update is if you add the link to your RSS feed, assuming the document is updated within the 72 hours!
The release notes document is not guaranteed to reflect the version deployed in perfect time sync.
While we try to publish it as close as possible it's not always in sync, and is not considered a tool to get notified when a tenant is expected to be upgraded (the upgrade is gradual and can sometimes take days).
Currently, there is no built in monitor available to tell you when a new version started deployment for your tenant (which will kick start the 72 hours clock).
What most customers do is set a few machines without delays, and in the rare condition that something breaks they have time to respond.
I am aware of some customers implementing their own monitor which scans the sensor deployment folder or service for the current version, and notifies them the minute they see the sensor changed version number...
So the folder is created when the sensor update is successful?

Solution
The current implementation is creating a new subfolder for each new version.
The windows service is also getting updated to point the new binary, you can inspect it as well.
