Microsoft Defender for Mac Stops Running After Update

Testing out Microsoft Defender for Mac for my organization. I installed version 101.78.13 on my M1 MacBook Pro 2020 running macOS 11.7 Big Sur. The app was running fine, but when it auto-updated to version 101.82.21, the app no longer runs. When trying to run it, I get the message "We're having trouble starting this app, Please hold on for a moment..." After about a minute the message changes to "There's a problem with this app". I can uninstall the new version and reinstall the old one, but it always auto-updates to the new version that doesn't work. Is the new version not compatible with Big Sur?

Update: version 101.86.81 was released today and it seems to have resolved the issue.
