Hi Carl, that's a real drag, having to re-install everything, been there recently myself after a blue-screen loop! Not sure if this helps but here are some instructions:
Download and Install Office - Download and install or reinstall Office 365 or Office 2016 on a PC or Mac
Opt-in to Insiders - Be an Office Insider
If you want new features as soon as possible then Insider is for you but for fewer bugs and issues Monthly Channel (Targeted) is the way to go.
