Will Microsoft Office 365 Product Key work for Microsoft 365 subscription?

I am buying a one year subscription of Microsoft 365 personal. My local computer store has packages of Microsoft Office 365 from 2016. Will the product key in those boxes work for Microsoft 365 subscription?
