Two Office 365 techs and I spent over an hour trying to either delete or rename one. Could open it via the portal or via the new local ON, but not found when searching or looking in local old school OneNote 2016.
Could only find the shortcut to the ON file on local machine. It was in the local OneDrive. Even changed the shortcut properties to "always keep on this machine"
There are no OneNote files or folders in local user's Documents
"closing" the file from the new local OneNote didn't delete it. Emptied Portal Recycle Bin to be sure.
New ON app does not seem to have a delete or rename file function.
Article said to delete must find on local drive and delete. But not there.
Would think there's a way to delete in portal for users who only use the cloud ON.

Where and how do you rename the file. If from within the Win10 ON app, where would that be done?
Delete the file from where?
Alternatively, can the file be deleted or renamed from the portal?

@adam deltinger - just picked up on this thread as I am having the same trouble as the original user. Your post of 2 Mar 2019 11:25pm didn't answer the question: How do you rename or delete a Notebook in the Windows 10 version of OneNote - there are no options available.
Microsoft want you to use it instead of Evernote, but the latter is so much easier to navigate.
