M365 E3 to E5 update on users subscriptions

If a customer is getting ready to update 3000 users from M365 E3 to M365 E5, and if they plan on doing it quickly using Powershell, will there be any disruption to the users and will all of the tools take over running as prior?  In other words, should they expect any glitches or hiccups to the user base?

If you switch in the same step you do not have any disruption.

Also you can use Licensing by groups in Azure AD and switch licenses based on Groups.
