Excel Formula Help! Automate data from tabs to master tab

Copper Contributor

Hello! I am having trouble figuring out how to automate data between tabs. I have a Master list and then separate sheets with each category. I would like to be able to input data into the category sheet and it automatically populate into my master sheet. Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! 🙂

Can you help?

Not from an image.

The FILTER function could work in the other direction quite easily. Have a master database that contains all the details, then use FILTER to populate various sub-categories. Beyond that, you may be talking Power Query, which I've never used.

But you'd be able to get more responses from others if you posted not an image, but rather a copy  (or mockup) of the actual workbook. If you can't post it here, then use OneDrive or GoogleDrive and paste a link here that grants access.

Thank you!! @mathetes Here's a copy of my workbook  Master Retailers.xlsx

This is a demonstration of how easily the specific lists can be derived (using the FILTER function) from a single master. In fact, I've added a tab ("Flexible") that works for any one of the categories. You pick the one you want displayed, and it is dynamically created from your selection.

You can add new rows to the master list, and the subordinate (individual) category sheets will be automatically updated.

Thank you so much!!! This is very helpful 🙂
You're very welcome
you need to post a link that also grants access

And it needs to grant Edit access. This last one allowed me to View only.

Have you tried to use the FILTER function in Google Sheets yourself? I know I've done it in another situation, for a friend. The syntax was slightly different from that in Excel, but it still worked. You should be able, I would think, to figure it out on your own. And that's always more satisfying..... but if you can't, then post another link that grant Edit access.

OK. It's fixed. Same formula as in Excel, I think. I just deleted stuff from the start and finish.

YOU ARE THE BEST. @mathetes THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
