Order of operations in Excel. This case is -2^2 = 4 is right?

Copper Contributor

While chatting with my tesis director Alexander Mendoza, over a calculus woksheet, we found out  that if we insert in a cell the expression -2^2 results is = 4.

If we use PEMDAS as our fundament, then the answer must be -4.

Could this feedback be right and cause a change in the way Excel uses the order of operations?

Kindly regards, Luis Pedro Alcántar-Bazúa.
