After months of using Designer and after reading months ago that it was possible to commercialize Designer images, today I went back to update myself by chance on permissions and I discover that it is no longer possible. I pay a subscription to not have the possibility of such use and I am an illustrator. What do I need Designer for to play at home? I am very disappointed, the continuous change in permissions to use Designer images (first yes then no), having to understand very long legal pages of a thousand parts and then not having anything in hand is truly exhausting and an absurd waste of time. So I have no other alternatives than to look for one of your Competitors now to have a service that you pretend to provide? It is not serious. If I have to use Designer professionally I look for a way to speed up my work, but if I cannot use Designer images, then I will also produce the images myself. Desolate

I have been using Designer now for 2-3 weeks, and in general I'm quite happy. Have discovered some biases that I will share in another comment.

Issue right now is that I keep getting error messages on my Pro account, while my free account generates images well. Support couldn't really help with this and shared this link. Hence why I'm posting here.

So - about biases..... I live in Saudi Arabia, and finding photos for presentations is quite hard. I have exhausted stock photos, and Microsoft Designer felt like a massive GIFT when I discovered it and started playing around. In general I'm very happy, BUT there are some massive biases that I have discovered:

    • While photos of groups of people will dress several ladies in Niqabs, I am not allowed to create a photo of a Niqabi lady as it goes against policy. Makes little sense....
    • It is extremely hard to get Designer to create photos of children without hijabs or shamals. Girls are ALWAYS dressed in hijabs and boys typically are dressed with shamals even if I specify again and again that they should NOT have their hair/heads covered. Children here do not cover.
    • Regarding the above, I have been struggling to create images from classrooms with a traditionally dressed Saudi teacher and children in school uniforms with uncovered heads. The work around became "In a classroom in the UK the children are dressed in school uniforms..... and their Saudi Arabian teacher dressed in traditional clothes....."
    • Vey often women will be wearing shamals and not shawls. This would never happen.
    • And for sports settings like jogging prompting women in modest sports outfits and hair covered, their stomachs will still be showing.....

Wanted to share this as it to me shows the biases of how girls dress in Saudi. The AI created representation of children is very misleading.

Otherwise - I'm very grateful for this tool 🙂
