Restrict group calendar edit permissions?

For our org wide team, we would like to start posting events to the group calendar, but want to restrict who can do this.  I found a couple of threads like this one from 4-5 years ago indicating that this wasn't fully possible at the time, but I'm hoping it has changed in the interim. 

Is it possible to change group calendar permission to read only for members, and grant specific people write access?

Last time I tried this, it did update the Calendar folder's permissions for Members to Reviewer, so it should work.
You used the calendarmemberreadonly switch? That thread said it was only for EDU tenants, and only affected OWA, not full outlook. Hopefully that has changed...
