If there is an AD security group that is synced to the cloud and you go create an Office 365 group with the same name do you run into any conflict issues?

Acctually i think this is possible with groups! At least some time ago! The display name can be the same! It’s the objectID that will differentiate

And email addresses, if it's a mail-enabled security group. In general, you should receive a notification for any conflicts, or you can use the MIIS tool to view errors reported during the last sync cycle.
