Microsoft Copilot Pro, no connection "connection is re-established"

Steel Contributor

I am currently unable to use Microsoft Copilot. The following error messages appear:

"Connection is re-established", "unfortunately something has obviously gone wrong. Let's start from the beginning."

Even when I actively log out and log back in to my account, the error appears again. Surprisingly, the Microsoft Copilot works in iOS. Copilot in Edge seems to work a little more stable. But the error also occurs there more often.

Thank you for your support, which I greatly appreciate.

Best regards
Andreas

I have now discovered that Microsoft Copilot does not work with an active Norton Secure VPN connection. If the VPN connection is deactivated, Copilot also becomes active immediately or finds a connection. Previously, the active VPN connection was not a problem when using Copilot.

What I have noticed recently:
In Windows, the time zone is set to "automatic". In the last few weeks, it has happened that Windows has changed the region. The time zone remains the same (UTC+1).

Your support is greatly appreciated.

Best regards

Andreas

I have now asked Copilot what I should do. mande1191_0-1711120047830.png mande1191_1-1711120047829.png mande1191_2-1711120047831.png

I have logged out of Norton 360 and logged back in. Now it seems to be working again for the moment. mande1191_3-1711120047828.png mande1191_4-1711120047830.png mande1191_5-1711120047829.png

@mande1191 Bitdefender VPN, even when set to USA servers, also causes CoPilot to fail.

The issue with Microsoft Copilot not working while Norton Secure VPN is active is likely due to VPN interference. Here's what you can try:

Temporarily Disable VPN: This is the quickest way to confirm if the VPN is the culprit. Turn off Norton Secure VPN and see if Copilot starts working. If it does, then the VPN is likely blocking the connection Copilot needs.

Check VPN Split Tunneling: Some VPNs offer "split tunneling" which allows you to choose which applications use the VPN and which ones don't. You might be able to configure Norton Secure VPN to exclude Copilot from the VPN connection.

Contact Norton Support: If the above steps don't work, Norton Support might have additional insights specific to their software. They can help you troubleshoot further configuration options or compatibility issues.

Now, regarding the time zone and region change:

It's unusual for Windows to automatically change the region while keeping the time zone (UTC+1) the same. This could be a bug or a specific setting in Windows.
Here are some things to check:

Review Location Settings: Go to Windows Settings > Time & Language > Region. Ensure the "Country or region" setting matches your actual location.

Disable Automatic Location Services: Windows might be trying to determine your location automatically as you connect VPN. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location and turn off "Allow apps to access your location."

Hope this will resolve your issue.
