Cannot upload or reference supported file using Copilot Pro and Microsoft 365 personal

Brass Contributor

Hello everyone,

I have generated a Word document using Copilot and saved it to my personal OneDrive.

Subsequently, I attempted to create a PowerPoint presentation using this document.

However, I noticed that there is no option to upload a Word file or reference a file through the use of / or copy the link from my personal OneDrive, similar to what is shown in this link on Microsoft Support Create a new presentation - Microsoft Support

Is this option exclusively available for Microsoft 365 Copilot users due to Microsoft Graph integration?

I am having the same issue, I have no "reference a file" button in Word, CoPilot, Powerpoint, or Word online. I was online with Microsoft help for hours and the agent did not know anything about how to fix it and sent me to this forum, where there is also no help to fix it.
Hello Jenni, thank you for your answer, reading the documentation I found out, that is not available for Copilot Pro and Microsoft 365 Personal-Family users, only for Microsoft 365 Copilot users, which is very unfortunate.
Aha! Thank you! Now I can stop trying to fix it. Do you remember which documentation says this?
yes as you can see this paragraph : "For users with a Copilot for Microsoft365 license, the Reference your content button allows you to search for and include up to three of your existing files as inputs to ground the content Copilot drafts. In the compose box, you can also enter "/" and the name of the file you'd like to reference, which will update the file options shown in the menu for selection. This feature only references the files you select, not any other organizational data."

Yes, I am also "affected" (Microsoft 365 Family + Copilot Pro). The "Create from file" function is one of the main reasons why I bought Copilot Pro.

The communication from Microsoft is also somewhat "unbalanced" here. Many affected users were surprised by the missing feature.

It would be greatly appreciated by the users concerned if there were more concrete statements on the missing feature.

Best Regards

Andreas

It would certainly be valuable if as many affected users as possible would provide feedback, e.g. in the feedback portal, or vote for existing feedback.

Hello, I am also having this problem, I have Microsoft 365 Family + Copilot Pro and the option to reference the file does not appear, how do I fix this problem, thank you.
Hello Ana, unfortunately, reference the file option is only usable for now if you are using Microsoft 365 Copilot.

The answer from Microsoft Copilot that this feature will be available by the end of April 2024 (Copilot Pro within Microsoft Family Abo).

Please ask the copilot himself and hope for a similar answer.
