Hybrid Deployment Question

In an environment that is a .local domain and an Azure AD domain that is .com, what is the best way to integrate the two with AAD Sync and such. Example contoso.local on-prem, and contoso.com, AAD. Should we just start over? @David Bjurman-Birr
