Recommended by Wirecutter as one of the best mobile scanning apps in 2020, we're taking the next step in our evolution by changing our name and logo from Office Lens to Microsoft Lens and adding some dynamic new features.

Along with the new identity, we are bringing intelligent actions into the camera, including: Image to Text, Image to Table, Image to Contact, Immersive Reader, and QR Code Scan.

We are releasing an improved scan experience allowing you to re-order pages, re-edit scanned PDFs, apply a filter to all images in the document, scan up to 100 pages as images or PDFseasily switch between local and cloud locations while saving PDFalong with an easy way to identify local and cloud files.

We will be rolling out these new features and improvements on Android first and then follow up with iOS in the coming months! Please refer to our support documentation for Android and iOS for further details.

Since Microsoft Lens powers the camera in Microsoft 365 mobile apps, including Office, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and OneDrive, you can rely on Microsoft Lens to capture and intelligently enhance, and work with your documents, photos and videos with the same ease and dependability of Microsoft Lens app.

Now you can be more organized and productive at work or at school!

One of my favorite apps. Use it frequently, and most importantly during conferences for note taking purposes.

Is there any chance that you could enable some of the functionality as "intents" on Android as it would be great to be able to call out to Lens as part of another application.

Microsoft

@Harjit Dhaliwal - That's great to know. I'd love to learn about your workflow while taking notes. Do you use any specific mode of the Lens app and any specific save location? What do you eventually do with these notes?

Most well known from the elder version and Office App, best new feature is OCR for hand writings. But I miss the Desktop version.

BTW: The new version for Android (following the installation link) is always called Office Lens.

@G_O_Tuhls The new Android app is currently in beta and will be rolled out to everyone over next few weeks. You can join Microsoft Lens' beta program to get the early versions: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.office.officelens

@martinRobins Can you share some of the scenarios/functionality for which surfacing intents through Microsoft will be useful to you. I'd love to understand more.

@saumitraagarwal

I'm already beta tester in Lens and Office App.

Copper Contributor

I like it

Copper Contributor

When will it be available in Power Apps?

@saumitraagarwal Do you know how and when I started using Office Lens?

It was the first time I tried to scan documents with my Surface Pro 3.

That time I was really proud of using Microsoft ecosystem.

And it's continued via Surface Pro 7 in my hands now.

The device that I'm writing this comment with; the device that I opened Office Lens on it today and I faced with a disappointing message...

And now, everything we got in the Windows version of Office Lens, in the HOUSE of Microsoft, is just a dying app which shows us an error message about expecting less features in the future.

What are you doing there exactly?!

Announcing the future of your app only for Android and iOS??!!

Get me wrong that Android is not a new HOUSE of Microsoft...

Windows is our HOME and it should be the first place to see new versions of Microsoft's own apps at least.

Please re-think about the Windows version of Office Lens, why there shouldn't be a Microsoft Lens app for Microsoft's own OS?!

I'm sorry dear Saumitra, but you really disappointed Windows and Surface fans with these types of decisions and with these types of activities... . And I'm really sorry for that, and for you...

If I was CEO at Microsoft, I would set a deadline for you to release the new version of Microsoft Lens for Windows 10 and after that, I would simply just fire you off the job.

This is how much Windows and Surface fans are mad at you...

I used Office Lens a lot on my Microsoft Surface Go tablet especially saving to PDF and OneNote. Now I cannot use it on Windows 10 devices. When will it be available for Windows 10 and have the PDF OneNote link?

I first use the Microsoft Lens in Windows Mobile and really enjoyed it.

We really missed Windows Mobile.
