Stop 'Open in OneNote' from using OneNote app instead of 2016

Iron Contributor

Hi

A member of staff is having trouble opening online notebook in 2016.

Whe she clicks Open in OneNote, it automatically starts the OneNote Windows 10 app, rather than OneNote 2016. It does not provide her with an option to select one of the two applications.

I have checked Default Apps setting in Windows 10, and OneNote 2016 is set as default app for all OneNote documents.

Does anyone knwo how we can force 'Open in OneNote' to open in 2016, or at least provide the option to?

Cheers

Found the answer myself, but will leave the question and answer here in case anyone else needs it.

System > Settings > Default Apps > Choose default apps by protocol > ONENOTE URL: OneNote Protocol > click the current default app, and then select preferred one
