Password Proteciton and Co Authoring

Copper Contributor

We have Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise and we were looking at doing some password protection on some Excel Files but from what I found and been seeing is that if we enable the password protection it disables the Co Authoring function?

Just want to confirm if this is true or not

Enabling Rights Management / or Azure Information Protection for Office 365 will disable the

co authoring of the password protected Excel file

Just want to be sure on this as it seems some of the responses is see online are old and not sure if this is accurate anymore

Hi, you’re correct in your assumption. It isn’t supported. There was a UV that was rejected but instead directed to co-auth with protected documents. See this link and the comment/link below https://excel.uservoice.com/forums/304921-excel-for-windows-desktop-application/suggestions/32292358...
