How do you set First Release for Deferred Channel vs Deferred Channel for Office ProPlus

Silver Contributor

We are First Release for entire organization (for O365 in general)

We are set to Deferred Channel for Office ProPlus

However, when users download Office ProPlus, they get First Release for Deferred Channel as their default version.

My understanding is this should be a separate setting somewhere (not related to First Release for the organization).  Am I misinterpreting that?  Or does the very nature of being First Release for O365 force us into First Release for Deferred Channel for Office applications?

Some reading up on a topic that should probably be easier to explain then it actually is in documentation does prove this to be the case.

First Release (for the tenant) trumps the setting for rollout of Office 365 ProPlus.

So if you are First Release = Yes
-- If you choose Current Branch, you are First Release for Current Branch
-- If you choose Deferred Branch, you are First Release for Deferred Branch

If you are First Release = No
-- If you choose Current Branch, you are Current Branch
-- If you choose Deferred Branch, you are Deferred Branch
