We sit in a lot of meetings and collaborate with a lot of people who are organizing and planning the Digital Experience of Microsoft Ignite - taking place ONLINE at https://myignite.microsoft.com on September 22nd through to the morning of the 24th (Pacific Time). It's a free event open to all folks who are interested in what Microsoft is up to, targeting technical professionals, decision makers, students, and startups.

Hi,

I tried to register for the event using my Work account but it won't let me because Microsoft Events needs permissions that must be granted by an Admin.  Why must this be a requirement? Please remove this barrier to registration.

Microsoft events needs permission to access resources in your organization that only an admin can grant. Please ask an admin to grant permission to this app before you can use it.

Thanks, Bruce...

Checking in to this @Bruce Weatherford - will get back to you in a bit.

I had the same Bruce - used my personal ms account instead. I suspect registration is trying to harvest some user profile data which is blocked by user controls. Perhaps they should use their own products in user mode and do a little UAT...

Microsoft

@ian gregson and @Bruce Weatherford - I believe we are doing a read only to your user account properties in your AAD in order to get your contact details and pre-fill information for you on subsequent sections of registration. No harm or foul as most orgs already have this level of read access granted in the AAD environments.

Copper Contributor

I have to ask... do we get a virtual bag reveal?

Microsoft

Don't worry @Terrell Gilliland - we got something cooked up for this.
