Microsoft Endpoint Manager - Intune is excited to share the new available version of the Compliance report in PowerBI using Intune Data Warehouse. This report provides a dashboard to surface data for device compliance and policy compliance over time.

What are some of the improvements in the new version?

We have made some updates to the compliance report to enhance its usability and improve the consistency of data that is shown in the MEM console, including:

  • Better visualization choices to represent the underlying data (i.e. different chart types, color consistency with the MEM console, using percentages rather than distinct counts).
  • Updated compliance state definitions (i.e. Devices with status of “Noncompliant” is the sum of “Not compliant” and “In grace period”)
  • More exposed data (i.e. the ability to see device details)
  • Ability to view metrics in a more focused way (i.e. Top 10 policies)
  • Updated documentation (i.e. updates to the informational page, overlays throughout the report with more information)

A walkthrough of the new version

  1. Compliance Overview

complianceOverview.png

The Compliance Overview page surfaces device compliance data:

  1. Count of devices in each compliance state
    1. Counts of devices in each compliance state.
  2. Compliance by OS
    1. Vertical bar charts for the percentage of devices in each state by OS.
  3. Device Detail
    1. Tabular view of devices, their compliance status and additional information. You can right click on a device record to drill down for even more information on the device. Use the tabs to filter on each status for list of devices.
  4. Compliance by Device Model
    1. Counts of number of devices in each compliance state by device model.

The compliance states have been updated to match those in the console. In particular, the status of “Non-compliant” is the sum of “Not compliant” and “In grace period” devices. For more information on the compliance statuses, learn more in the Intune documentation.

You can select a single part of a visualization to set a filter on the rest of the tiles to reflect your selection. The right pane filters can also be used to further slice the data with the available data entities.

2.  Policy Overview

policyoverview.png

The Policy Overview page surfaces the status information for your assigned policies. You can view the data across all your policies or only the top 10 defined by the highest number of assignments.

The policy page shows the following information:

  1. Policy Adherence % over time
    1. Chart to show over the percentage of devices with adherence to assigned policies over time. Default time horizon is last 30 days.
  2. Policy Activity Status over time
    1. Chart to show the percentage of assigned policy status over time. Default time horizon is last 30 days.
  3. Current Policy device count
    1. Tabular view of number of devices assigned to each policy. Select “Full detail” for more information.

Like the Compliance Overview, you can select a record from the table to set a filter across your other charts. Again, use the right pane to further filter and slice the data to your needs.

3.  General Information

general information.png

This page is intended to provide more information around using the compliance report, including frequently asked questions, definitions of terminology used, and links to helpful resources. Here you can navigate to the Intune Data Warehouse and PowerBI documentation, download versions of the PowerBI files and share feedback via UserVoice.

Use the question mark icon on the Compliance Overview and Policy Overview pages to view overlays on the data tiles for extra information.

So how do I download V2?
You can follow the link here to download the new version: https://github.com/microsoft/Intune-Data-Warehouse/tree/master/PowerBIApps

Follow the instructions found here to download the new version: https://docs.microsoft.com/power-bi/service-template-apps-install-distribute#update-a-template-app.

You may see a notification come up in your console prompting you to download V2.

What happens to the old version?
When you are prompted to install the new version, you will see a message like the following:

Nice!

Will we be able to get the list of apps deployed and their status to each device/user.?

Thanks

Microsoft

@Shakeel39 - This report is specifically for devices and their compliance state. I don't believe we have a dedicated PowerBI report just for apps.

I'm testing this report on PBI desktop and I've found out couple of issues. On the Compliance Overview, in Device Details I can't switch between Non-Compliant / Compliant / Full Detail tabs. Same goes for the Compliance / Policy buttons on top of the page. Can you reproduce the same? I've made sure I'm running the latest PBI desktop (2.83.5894.961 64-bit (July 2020)). I have no option of running this in web based PBI.

Is there a way to report out different mobile devices for each user? Example, I have a MDM (corporate owned device) and a MAM iPhone. I'm looking for one dashboard that could show MAM and MDM.

Would be nice to be able to:

  • Have Compliant / Noncompliant and Not Evaluated top left in the report. (Green, Red and Yellow.)
  • When I click on Noncompliant (red), it would be nice to have all of them in lower left Device detailed, sorted by "Why is the device Noncompliant?" (Maybe good to see due to a risk status. A device that have not been in contact with Intune for 30 days may be less risky Noncompliant than a device with to low iOS. )
  • When I click on Not Evaluated (yellow), it would be nice to have all of them in lower left Device detailed, sorted by "Why is the device Not Evaluated?"
  • have reports of the above and able to export, Compliant, Noncompliant and Not Evaluated to Excel from this page/ComplianceV1.0.
  • The numbers in the lower right should reflect the choice made at the top left. I.e. choosen Not Evalutated the lower right should show the actual number of device that are not Not Evaluated sorted by Model.

Good Work!!

New PBI user connecting Intune to data. I noticed upon "connecting." PowerBI auto logged in with my standard cached creds (first time!) and I can't seem to login with my new functional service account and see my data like I can in my tenants standard Global Intune admin account to see the data. Owner seems stuck in wrong account and yea I can't seem to even share access to this other account. Even if I could I do not want ownership and in settings says I cannot change. Advice?

Hi @Supermike84, when loading the "Intune Compliance (Data Warehouse) Power BI App - v2.0.pbit" file, you should be able to specify and sign into an Organizational account prior to connecting to your Intune tenant. If no option is presented, you can also change the authentication method via the steps documented here. For more info on connecting to the Data Warehouse with Power BI and Intune, see: Connect to the Data Warehouse with Power BI to learn more. Hope this helps!

Hi @WetchaInc, thanks for the comment and we're sorry about your recent reporting experience. If you are still impacted by this scenario, please open a new support request via the Microsoft Endpoint Manager admin center's Help and support blade, or any of the methods here, as this will help the team capture all the information needed to resolve the issue. Thanks!

Hi @Intune_Support_Team ,

We are using this PowerBI App connecting directly to our environment. We could refresh the data on regular basis until 15 Nov 2022. We have been checking it and there has been such an error until today, so I guess, it's not just an internal error that can be fixed by itself.

Below is the error message that we have. Could you please assist to fix that issue?

Hi. I have exactly the same problem as @darwintrieu

Any advice? Thanks.

Copper Contributor

Hi @Intune_Support_Team,
As not only me have the issue, could you please give some advice? Thanks!

Copper Contributor

I think the issue fixed itself for me... I too was having refresh problems and now all good. However, not sure a filter issue but I am not able to match my export results from endpoint console to my PBI dash lately. I can also point it to it showing a conflict on the Endpoint console naving: Devices > Monitor > Non Compliant devices > [filter] ticking the 3 profiles we use (AE Corp; Personal Corp; iOS) Non compliant seeing the results; unticking unknown = 1706

Than, the path starting at Reports > Device Compliance > Refresh > Reports > Device Compliance > same tick boxes as before whilst unchecking MS desktop devices and Unknown > Generate =
1701 non complaint... Ok well closer than before... Now seems like an non issue...

But my dashboard way off showing: 1277 (sigh) what is it ugh...

Just have the following Filters also IsDelete above in visual that removes older stale entries and mobile fosused

Atleast everything is refreshing!

Copper Contributor

How long does it take to refresh, mine has been refreshing from sample data to our data for 45 minutes.

Edit - took about an hour for 30 devices.
