Removing UAC Black Screen: Is it safe?

Copper Contributor

Hi Everyone,

As the subject dictates, is it safe to disable "Prompt on Secure Desktop" for a small company?

Context:

I'm recently working as an Internal IT Support for the company, and the ONLY support at that, and I'd like to utilize Quick Assist as an alternative remote to Team Viewer. We've already purchased the license for TV but during the days without it, it's becoming difficult for me to assist users for app installations or anything related that would require elevated permissions since I only see black screen upon prompting for credentials.

So yeah, just a general info if it's safe to disable that option via Registry Editor and the implications it would welcome would be great.
