Driver Titles on Windows Update

This week we'll roll out changes in HDC that modify how titles for drivers are constructed. We've received a lot of feedback from partners, and customers that the date, and timestamp traditionally included is causing some confusion.

Before titles appeared as below:

Once the change goes live, users will see:

Driver_Title_New.PNG

There is no action that driver submitters, and publishers need to take. This change only modifies how we construct the titles for drivers published to Windows Update. The description of the driver that is published to Windows Update will still contain the date, and timestamp.

Drivers that have already been published to Windows Update will continue to display the older style title. Anything published after the change goes live, will have the new style title.

Awesome! Let's just hope more and more hardware vendors decide to release all their drivers and firmware through WIndows Update and not through their own website/downloads/3rd party update managers.
