What happens to the online archive if users are moved from E3 to Business Premium?

We recently upgraded our employees from Business Premium to E3 and I'd like to enable the online archiving feature for Exchange. Before we do that however, I need to know what would happen to those archives should we ever move users back to Business Premium.

Hi @Kelly_Edinger

 

You need to move the Online Archive to mailbox first, because it will delete the online archive if the user does not have the appropriate license.

If you have retention on the mailboxes thou it'll hold the mailbox based on that time period. They just wont' have an active archive mailbox.
