Making private meeting in shared mailbox calendar

Brass Contributor

Hello,

In the calendar of a shared mailbox we can't set a meeting to private. The lock-tile is greyed out. In the users own calendar the tile is available. Is there a setting for shared mailboxes that makes it possible to set meetings to private?

Kind regards,
Arjan

That would depend on how you are accessing the shared mailbox and the permissions you have on it. With Full access permissions, you can use OWA > Open another mailbox > point to the shared mailbox > Calendar and create the private meeting as usual, the checkbox will be available.
Hello @VasilMichev,

Thanks for answering! In OWA it is indeed possible to make a private meeting. But we mainly/only work in Outlook. It is very inconvenient when you have to switch between Outlook and OWA for these types of meetings.
It isn't possible in Outlook to mark a meeting as private?
Hello VisalMichev,

Thanks again. In the past worked with this method, but when we moved our mailboxes to Exchange Online, we had serveral issues (for example, we did get issues with authentication because of Auzre MFA). So we start using automapping. Unfortunately, it is not possible to use this method again.

Do you know why it isn't possible to make private meetings for shared mailboxes, with the auto-mapping method?

Kind regards,
Arjan
The method works just fine with MFA, too. And it is a requirement if you want to use certain Outlook features with shared mailboxes.
I was not aware that this worked liked this. When we enabled MFA for our environment, with mailboxes added this way we get an "error"/login message. And we have to authenticate with the account of the shared mailbox.
Probably there was something configured for the shared mailboxes?
