Mail user for managed account

Copper Contributor

Hi,

I'm in a migration project and need to create mail users for smtp-coexistens. All my accounts are sync from local AD to AAD.

My Enviroment has no Exchange on-prem servers and no hybrid deployment.

How can I get them enabled as mail user in EXO?

Hi Patrick,

Just assign a licence to the users with Exchange Online and you will have a mailbox enabled to that users.

Than you can create a transport rule to the coexistence https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj950234%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-21472173...

Hi, thanks for your suggested solution it solved my issue.

But I still need a way to create mail users since my coex tool can't handle free/busy request if they are mailboxes.

I have add value to this properties but it doesn't show up as a mail user in EXO.

proxyAddresses
targetAddress
msExchRecipientDisplayType = 6
msExchRecipientTypeDetails = 128

Hi Patrick,

The best way is to Extend you Schema with Setup of Exchange to populate the fields needed on Office 365, than reconfigure the AD Connect to have Hybrid Setup.

This article shows the fields syncronized https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/connect/active-directory-aadconnectsync-attr...
