how to reduce exchange server with two databases size

Copper Contributor

I have an Exchange server with 2 databases. It has grown up to 1.5 TB. I changed the period to keep deleted items from 14 to 1day. But it didn't effect the size of server.

What should I do?

Please help me

Thanks

Hello,
can you be more specific about the 1.5 tb? do you mean each database has reached 1.5 tb or hoth databases makes 1.5 tb or the full server including system makes 1.5 tb?
Can you please send us the result of the commands below on the Exchange server:

Get-MailboxDatabase -Status | sort name | select name,@{Name='DB Size (Gb)';Expression={$_.DatabaseSize.ToGb()}},@{Name='Available New Mbx Space Gb)';Expression={$_.AvailableNewMailboxSpace.ToGb()}}

Get-Volume | ft -Autosize

Old database have created white space that counts for the extra space You can create a new database and try moving them one by one and the new one will have less space. So normally we have created different databases for each Department to limit the size of the who DB and can easily move them separately.
Thank you so much for your ans.
How should I create new DB?
Does it not risky to move DB?
